2022 ANCC Pathway to Excellence® and ANCC National Magnet® Conference Abstract Call Instructions

The 2022 ANCC Pathway to Excellence® Conference will be held October 13-15, 2022, in Philadelphia, PA.  The Conference Call for Abstracts will open November 1, 2021, and close on December 13, 2021, 11:59 p.m. ET. 

You are invited to submit an abstract(s) for oral (podium) or poster presentation by the December 13, 2021, deadline.  Abstract submission is open to all submitters who have nursing related projects enhancing patient outcomes, nursing practice, clinician well-being, or the nursing work environment.  Abstract submission should relate to one or more of the conference goals.

Abstract Submission Guidelines:

  • All abstracts must be submitted online in alignment with provided guidelines.
  • Abstracts must not exceed the published character limits.
  • Abstracts may be submitted for oral (podium), poster or either presentation. Abstracts submitted for oral presentation will be considered for oral or poster presentation, unless otherwise specified by the primary presenter.
  • Abstracts must align with one or more conference goals and be submitted for one track only.
  • Applicants will be notified of their acceptance by the end of March 2022.

Conference Goals:

The Conference learning goals/outcomes are:

  • Examine the positive impact of shared governance, effective leadership, and interprofessional partnerships that exemplify workplace excellence.
  • Evaluate evidence-based practice, research, quality, and safety initiatives. 
  • Assess nurse-driven and organizational initiatives to foster a culture of health and safeguard clinician and community well-being.
  • Demonstrate the values of lifelong learning and nurse empowerment on organizational outcomes. 

Abbreviated Track Descriptions

Track 1: Shared Decision-Making & Leadership

Shared Decision-Making abstracts focus on actions implemented to cultivate interprofessional collaboration, and to establish a culture in which direct care nurses are viewed as partners, and their inclusion in decision-making is valued.

Leadership abstracts focus on initiatives demonstrating effective organizational leadership at the staff, middle and executive levels across all settings to foster and sustain a culture of excellence.

Track 2: Safety & Quality

Safety abstracts focus on actions implemented to protect the safety of staff, patients, and their families through safety initiatives, policies, and processes.

Track 3: Well-Being

Well-Being abstracts focus on “out-of-the-box” strategies, process improvements, and exemplars that support staff to mitigate clinician burnout, sustain employee engagement, and improve satisfaction.

Track 4: Professional Development

Professional Development abstracts demonstrate the value in developing and empowering staff to lead.

Abstracts must provide evidence of nursing staff and/or management activities related to one of the topic areas and focus on one or more conference learning outcomes. Abstracts must include the purpose and description of the nursing initiative, implementation strategies, evaluation of the impact/effectiveness on the organization, and implications for nursing practice.
